Karter's First 1st Grade Field Trip

Karter's first field trip in 1st grade was to Pumpkinland. He was so excited that I got to go and help and be his leader. He was happy he had Trace (a new boy that had just moved from Montana), Damian, and Adam in our group. A group full of boys is pretty fun to listen to and watch. They got to pick their own pumpkins when we left and were pretty excited about that. I have to admit I don't miss the days riding a bus to school. Luckily Karter doesn't have to, although he is always saying he wishes he did. Why we all thought that was the coolest thing ever is beyond me! It is so hot inside a bus and stuffy. Maybe i'm just getting too old. hahaha

Dear Toothfairy...

We ended up making a trip to go to Lake Powell with Scott's family and who of all people forgot her camera...me!! It just so happened that Karter had a loose tooth for awhile.I should have known that someone would talk him into pulling it especially when he was showing everyone and anyone that would take the time to look at his loose tooth. So Lance (Scott's younger brother) says to Karter one day lets pull it out. Karter wasn't too sure about it. But Lance said Karter I promise it won't hurt at all, and told him how good he was at pulling out kid's teeth. Karter decided ok and let him do it. I was sick I didn't have my camera, but thankfully my sister in law Becky pulled through for me! Here he was getting his first tooth pulled out and no camera, my luck! Lance got a paper towel and counted to 3 and on 2 he pulled it. The look on Karter's face was priceless. It was once of those I'm gonna cry and then once he saw Lance had the tooth it went to an instant smile. He was so EXCITED! We went in the trailer and put it in a baggy and had to start writing the letter. He wanted his cousin Tylie to help him. He wrote and asked the tooth fairy to keep his first tooth cuz he wanted to go home and be able to show his Grandpa and Grandma (my parent's) and his friends. To his surprise the next morning he got $2 and she said he could keep his tooth!! He was so HAPPY!!

Utah State Fair

Everything a kid could ask for...is at the Utah State Fair! It was all that and them some. From sweating so bad in the toasty hot sun, to worrying that we need to wash the kids hands every other minute, to eating a big bbq chicken wing and buying all the crap that the informercials try to get you to buy. Really what more could you ask for.? Sometimes I wonder why we even go. But the kids always have a blast and we always do to watching them have so much fun. So...until next year (cuz I know we'll be there)!!

House Fire

You are probably wondering why I am posting about this house fire? The reason is this. This home is within our stake and close to where I live. I was taking the boys to go somewhere and when I was backing out of my garage, I saw smoke. We went to where it was and this is what we found. A home, burning...and worst of all the owners came home to this! I stopped and me and the the boys watched it as firefighters tried to save their home, but were unsucessful. It broke my heart! I can't image coming home to a absolute loss, with nothing but the clothes on your back! It was a good eye opener for Karter, a boy that is a pyro and loves to play with lighters. That is why I stayed and let him watch as long as I did. We didn't end up going where we were originally headed. I came home afterwaeds and couldn't stop thinking about it. I worried and made myself sick thinking...did this family have kids? Is the owners in need? How can I help? Scott told me rather than sit here and do nothing...go. Go ask what you can do to be of assistance. So I went and found out it is a spanish couples home, they have no kids and pretty much they now have nothing! I told them and their neighbor I would do what I could to help. I came home and posted on my facebook and had our ward send out a email for a home and clothing drive. I NEVER thouht i'd get all that I did. But it was overwhelming with the outpouring love that people did to help, someone they didn't even know. I have never done something like this before. But to see their reaction was worth every minute of it! I did something and whether they could use all that I collected was up to them. But I know they used and needed most of it.
Now the only thing that sits on their lot is a cement pad of where this home use to sit. But I will end with one last story. When the couple was sorting through all the rubble and charred stuff in their home. The husband came across a ring box, he wasn't able to wear his wedding ring because he was a handy man and did construction and was afraid of getting hurt by wearing it. When he opened the box where his ring sat, it was perfect, completely untouched by the fire. It was the only thing in the home what wasn't damaged! I loved that they shared that story with me and in return I can share it with you.

Karter's First Day of 1st Grade!!

I've said before and i'll say it again, this is more for me than any of you i'm sure. I am so behind and am going to playing catch up. My goal...is at least one post a week...hopefully more but at least one! Karter started 1st grade and "loves" it. The first day I asked him if there was any cute girls in his class and he said "mom!!" and I said what and he said "well yes mom". He still won't admit who it is (and it's January) but I have a few guesses.

Things he has learned or loves this year so far in school:
To learn about space, dinosaurs and SHARKS or anything to do with the ocean!! There is a reason I beleive he is an Aquarius!
To read much better
Loves chapter books
Football
Thursdays...when mom comes and helps with centers
Spelling and has got 100% all but 3 times which have been 90% twice and 80% once!!
Lunch and recess (of course)

Things he loves at home after school:
He loves to play with his friends when he gets home and his homework is done!
Play xbox
Ride his electric scooter or dirtbike
Be outside
To read each night with mom!!

**Kandon absolutly loves you and looks up to you so MUCH!! He adores and idolizes his BIG brother!!**

Karter it seems like yesterday (literally) that you were born and I was staring at you thinking how lucky we were to have you in our lives!! You have grown so much and we still feel that lucky!! We love you to pieces and are so proud of how much you love school and how good you are at it!! Keep up the good work and grades!! XOXOXOXOXO

Someone save me...

I wanted to be totally caught up before Christmas with the rest of our summer...Karter starting 1st grade...Kandon's 3rd birthday and so on. But our old computer took a dump!! It got a virus and we were going to loose everything. Luckily we have an external hard drive so I lost nothing. But I did get a new computer, finally a mac. It's used but new to me!! I love it and it is the new aluminum style, and to me its perfect!! I still need to load all my information on here so I can finally update this blog...it will come.
But we are alive. Scott is finding out this week on a potential job, we hope!! Please cross your fingers, toes and whatever else you can cross and PRAY like CRAZY for him!! I will keep you posted.
Merry Christmas and hope I get this updated before the New Year!!!

This & That...July 2010

I know I haven't posted in what seems like forever (at least to me). This is probably more for me than any of you that may be looking at our blog (if anyone even checks it anymore).

We play coed softball every year. This year this was our "kaos" (chaos) team. I was holding my shirt since I wasn't able to finish the season with having my surgery. Love these guys and girls!!!
Forgive me...or I need to forgive myself but I didn't take one pic this year of our 4th of July. All the pic's are actually from Bridget. I didn't like to with my elbow still hurting. We lit some fireworks at my parents house and we also went to the "Stadium of Fire" as usual the boys had a blast.
My mom and I took the kids to Hogle Zoo and as you can see the boys had a blast.
Karter is our little swimmer. He loves to swim ans is really good at it. He jumps off the low diving boards and has even jumped off a small cliff at Lake Powell. He scares me, cause if any of you really know me I am "not" a swimmer nor do I want to be only because I almost drowned when I was 13, but I do want my kids to know how to swim and swim very well. I never want them to have the same fear I have had for most of my life.
We went to Salt Lake one day to visit my brother and ended up here...the boys loved it and Ian actually came with us....surprise, surprise. He hates places like this. But the boys loved that "uncle E" treated them to ice cream!!
My mom retired from the Utah State Developmental Center aka Utah State Training School, she worked there for over 32 years. Congrats mom!! She has had a lot of problems with her wrists (carpal tunnel) and her shoulder. She has surgery on them both but she is still having problems with both of them. Hopefully now with me not working and her retired she can get the rest she needs to get feeling better.
Me and the boys went up to Price (well Huntington) to see my friend Angie after she injured and almost cut off a couple fingers. I took the boys to the Dinosaur Museum in Price. The loved it and never wanted to leave. It amazes me they are so intrigued by museums.
Our yearly trip to "Lava"...need I say more we love going each year. This year Bridget and Easton came with us and they say they want to go every year now too. And again I didn't bring my camera so I took no pictures, here is a few courtesy of Bridget, again.
As you can see we had a busy July even with me being one armed I was still able to have a little bit of fun. I do have more "catching up" to do so stay posted....

The Last Month...Or So!!?

We haven't had new family pictures since Kandon was about 1 1/2 old now he is almost 3! While we were in Arizona a month ago for Scott's brother's wedding we had my sweet sister in law Shawna take a few with my camera. I "love" them to pieces and think they turned out great.June 22nd just two days after we came home from Arizona I had major arm surgery on my elbow. I had Ulner Nerve Disfunction, it caused me achy pains up my arm to the point I would wake up almost crying. About a week before my surgery I woke up my arm dead and painful as could be and for the life of me could not move it! What they do in the surgery is make a incision along the elbow and take the ulner nerve and move it to the inside of your arm. I can tell now the pain is gone I am just still healing from the pain due to the surgery itself. I was in a splint and sling for 10 days. Now I am in and out of a sling and splint and I can tell where the nerve is at now cause it is so TIGHT! The doctor said within 12 weeks I will be back to 100% and my 12 week mark is September 14! Whoo hoo I can't wait until I can wake up and be able to move my arm normal again!

Here are some pics of my arm but be fair warned I have been told there are GROSS (I personally don't think so) but if you have a weak stomach don't look at them.
Then on July 3rd we were leaving to go to Stadium of Fire and right before walking out the door Kandon fell off my step hit my bookshelf right inbetween his eyes on his nose. It was bleeding like crazy and luckily we got it to stop and ended up being like 20 mins late. The next day he had black eyes underneath by the day after that it was on top and bottom. Poor kid luckily they healed quickly and you can hardly tell now.
Then Scott decided he wanted a bigger truck. Not necessarily bigger but a bigger motor and four-wheel drive, that's right his old truck was not. He put his on ksl on July 5th on a monday night around 5pm and by 8pm it was sold. We were going to get a Nissan Titan and found out they had bad reviews so we looked at the Toyota Tundra's. He ended up getting one of those on July 12th and he "loves" it!! It's super nice and I'm glad we got it. Plus we had a great down payment and have only $150 truck payment, can't complain since its our only car payment.
Then just 2 days later, July 14th my boss called me and fired me...while on medical leave for my arm. Why...I have no idea other than she said they are short staffed and had to fill my position. I have been there 9 1/2 years and it was totally unexpected. It came as a HUGE shock!! I was not released to go back until I had full movement of my arm and I was suppose to go back on August 4th, guess she couldn't wait. I felt many different emotions...anger, confusion, sadness, and peace. I still feel peace...my boss was often difficult to work for. I don't need the money, since I was part time I didn't make much after paying for our insurance. So the worst part of it is the insurance and as of July 31st we have none. My kids should qualify for chip and hopefully Scott gets a job, soon!! I will no longer be working here....
One of the worst things that's happened besides all I've listed is I was backing out of my garage July 21st forgetting that my hatch was opened on my MDX because I was upset about Karter loosing my itouch (which we found later). I hit the trim of my garage breaking my window, tearing the wiper apart and causing $2814 worth of damage...that's right I said $2814!!
Luckily I can say I have a $500 deductible so that's our portion, I guess that's the upside of it.
I hope this next month goes better for us...or year for that matter!

Karter will be starting first grade which brings tears to my eyes every time I think about it. As of right now and hopefully for good I will be a stay at home mom!! Something I have prayed and wanted for a LONG, LONG, LONG time!!

My Boys!!!

It's been a long time coming and I finally took some pic's of my boys!! There is definitely a reason I don't take theirs more often...it's just as painful for me as it is for them. But here a few on my fav's!! At least a few turned out...right!!?Karter I love you for some many reasons...here's just a few!!
-you are always so cuddly
-your imagination reaches beyond the stars
-you "never" forget anything
-you always love my kisses and you give the "best" hugs
-you learn more and more everyday and are so smart!
-your my love bugKandon I love you for so many reasons...here's just a few!!
